"Hm, seeing as they're hiding... it should be something fairly inconspicuous; I actually toyed with the idea of making it an underground house... but that's something to discuss !" ^ Quoth I the Yin.

You said that they should portkey in, or apparate. Apparating leaves a trace, as does a portkey, but I'm sure there are spells to hide such traces. We could do these things: - Portkey in the form of their wedding rings, set to activate at a certain word or a tap of their wand.
- Apparation, with wards keyed to let only those with the correct blood through (blood wards)
- Have a gateway, like Diagon Alley, which leads to their home.

I was also thinking of something along the lines of maybe... well, they could have a house under another house. If it's a rather old part of the house that's underground, it could have magic (similar to Hogwarts) that would hide the traces. I'm also thinking maybe... layer of magic wood between the two houses, so that any trace was attributed to the people on the land, therefore the house above, and not below. I like the first two points.

I like your suggestion too. That would work... it would work well... I was thinking Grimmauld Place first off, but I thought: "Hm... Bella, Draco and Cissa could still get in... that could be a problem."
We could stick it under Grimmauld, but that's only a suggestion...

I thought Grimmauld too, and then I thought about Andromeda's place. It's up to you, but they could put up blood wards that only reacted to a certain persons blood/genetic profile, so it would be individualized to whoever is going to live there.
Also, have we decided who all is living there?

I thought it would be Lily+James, Meri+Rem and Tabbi+Siri...
And, by proxy, their children, meaning Harry. Meri would probably wait a several years before adopting, unless something happened to make her want to adopt before that (eg: seeing a child that has lost it's parents, etc).
Hm... Grimmauld might be a bad idea, for several reasons... but Andromeda's is a good idea. I'm just wondering, they would be in on it too? That would bring Nymphadora in, but it would also- wait, Ted Tonks is Muggleborn, he'd have to be hidden...
That also means that it would be dangerous for the house to be under theirs, less inconspicuous. Hm... Shrieking Shack?

Ooh, good idea. But that's on the Hogwarts grounds... is that going to be a problem?
I like the idea for Grimmauld, even though it's less likely to work... more wards would have to be constructed and such, which might be a problem... Hm.
Perhaps under Aberforth's bar in Hogsmeade?
Another note on using Grimmauld... I think the timeline would prevent it. Sirius's parents were still alive at the time that we're talking about this (tentatively) so it wouldn't be possible at all.

Actually, the Shack's in Hogsmeade, but even so... Also, the ghost rumours would keep people away, well, people in general, not necessarily the Ministry. "Most Haunted Building in All Britain" remember?
What was your idea for Grimmauld?

Yeah, I realised that (about his parents) but I thought that they might do it without permission Also, the bar seems like an okay idea, because a lot of people would be going in and out, not the typical place to hide. It's also close to Hogwarts... Hm... What about No. 4? *is amused by the Dursley's predictable reaction*

Yes, that's true. I'd forgotten that... I like it. ^_^ No one would even think of looking there, not even the ministry, and Remus would still have somewhere to go on Full Moon nights. That's actually a really good idea. ^_^ Close to Dumbledore (Padfoot could easily run up there if needed) and close to Aberforth (in case they couldn't get to Dumbledore).

Indeed. It's also got quite a bit of vacant land around it, and by the look of the movie and what I recall from the books, the Shack is kinda out of the way, like... not that close to anything other than Hogwarts (and Hogsmeade isn't too far, but far enough to stay hidden). It also means that they can be outside without getting caught sometimes.

Re: No. 4 - Erm... I like the idea of either the Shack or the Hog's Head better. Also, with either of those, they could easily get things from Hogsmeade (using glamours or something like that), which they're bound to need since that one law states that food and such things can't be materialized.
Hm...

And, also, the Shack gives them somewhere to go above-ground without getting caught. I've always imagined glamours to be a bit uncomfortable on a person, so... we could toy with that, if you wanted.

I was kidding about the No. 4 thing, tyYang.
Also, I agree about Hogsmeade. I think that Hogsmeade would be the best option... something in Hogsmeade. It's either The Hogs Head, or the Shrieking Shack, unless we can think of anything else.
I can see Dumbledore suggesting the Hogs Head to them...
Oh God... why didn't we think Godric's Hollow?

... no idea. Still like the idea of the Shack better, though. No one knows what it was actually for except them and Dumbledore, so it would be ideal. So... what about these wards? Also, I agree with what you said about who all lives there. That's what I thought, but I didn't know if you were thinking the same thing or not. Seems... Packish. *repeats to self that Winter is not LwD and we can't steal the concept*
